Good Examples of Test Shots

I have taken many test shots to get the grasp of different types of framing and how to correctly show the conventions of an image that will be typically used in a music magazine. Although some of the shots went quite well, the majority of them didn't. The aim of this task was to help prevent myself from taking shots that lack in quality for my final magazine.

Bad Examples of Test Shots

Here are the bad test shots that I have taken. I felt that taking bad test shots was very beneficial as I understand why they are bad and what I methods and skills I should use when taking my real images to make them look as professional as possible.

Focus Group Failed Questionnaires

These two focus group questionnaires were unsuccessful. They are very informal and the questions weren't registered as planned. Also, the interviewees couldn't control their laughter. These issues made these attempts overall unacceptable and unable to use as they would be seen as unprofessional. The information given by the interviewees wasn't clear which isn't helpful as the reason behind the focus group was to find out the publics interest.

Focus Group Questions

  1. Why do you read music magazines?
  2. How much are you willing to pay for a music magazine?
  3. How often do you buy music magazines?
  4. What attracts you to reading a music magazine?
  5. Who would you like to see on the front cover of a music magazine?
  6. What are your favourite music magazines?
  7. Would you download an app to view a music magazine?
  8. Do you use social networking sites to stay up to date with music magazines?
  9. Do you visit the websites of music magazines?
I chose to ask these questions as I feel that they are very important factors when making a magazine. The consideration of the desired audience's needs makes all the difference as it connects the magazine to the reader by making it seem more appealing because of the desired needs of the audience. My questions help me discover what the audience expect, want and what they feel is necessary and inappropriate.
